Jesus isn't a genie. He meets our needs and answers prayers, but he draws us to speak our needs, to ask Him to provide, and to engage in our own healing. ⁠ ⁠ Friend, do you want to get well? It's a valid question. ⁠ ⁠ Sometimes we don't like our circumstances or what's been done to us. But choosing to get well? That's another story. ⁠ ⁠ If you want to move forward, to heal, and to get well, you have a choice to make. Your healing isn't dependent on someone else. ⁠ ⁠ It is dependent upon your choice. ⁠ ⁠ Jesus is waiting to assist you. When my kids were young, I often told them there's a reason behind why I say, "yes" or "no." The same is true for God. ⁠ ⁠ God is not an authoritarian figure, though much of religion has made him out to be. Legalism is man's feeble attempt to control and make us and God who we think we and He are. ⁠ ⁠ The God of both the Old and New Testaments is a protector, provider, nurturer, and comforter. A model of what loving parents should be to their children. ⁠ ⁠ God's "no," or "do this" is proactive as well as protective. Faith is trusting Him with yourself and your circumstances even if you wonder why what you're doing doesn't make sense. ⁠ ⁠ Hang in there, friend. Noah built an arc. Abraham laid his child on an altar.⁠ ⁠ God has a reason. I'm learning to appreciate the color around me, even when it's not sunny and warm. ⁠ ⁠ I'm also learning that TODAY may be the only day I have. Is that morbid? ⁠ ⁠ No, it's honest. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow or the day after. ⁠ ⁠ The enemy wants to cloud our thinking getting us caught up in the past, uncertain about the future, and disappointed at today. We don't live well, here, my friends. ⁠ ⁠ Instead, lean into God's perspective for your current standing. What truth is He trying to tell you through His word you can't hear or receive because your mind and heart is too cluttered with:⁠ ⁠ What if's?⁠ Why's?⁠ If only's?⁠ ⁠ Join me in saying, "I have.."⁠ I only have today. ⁠ I only have time, energy, and resources to use today. How will I use them? ⁠ ⁠ An older woman told me, "why worry about the weather, we can't change it!" It's so true. ⁠ ⁠ About everything in life that we can't control. How do you respond to change? Do you jump in with both feet, or have one foot on the brake pedal when things don't feel good?⁠ ⁠ I'm speaking at a luncheon today on the Gift of Change. Most of us have a love-hate relationship with it. ⁠ ⁠ The biggest change in my life happened in a moment, and I spent months trying to understand why God allowed such pain and change in the life of our family. ⁠ ⁠ In the moments, days, and months that followed, I learned that God doesn't change even when life or people do. ⁠ ⁠ I learned to lean on his character. "Gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love," Psalm 145:8.⁠ ⁠ Malachi 3:6 says, "I, the Lord, do not change."⁠ ⁠ The gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and His comfort in pain is the unchanging gift a believer in Jesus Christ has in this life. ⁠ ⁠ People and circumstances change.
