Wouldn’t we lose heart unless we believe that we see (and will see) the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living? . . Wait on the Lord, friends. Be of good courage. And God will strengthen your heart. Psalm 27:13-14 . . This was in my regular reading this morning. God reminds me he has been and always will be there meeting our every need.

Those of us working in mental health worry about the unseen toll on our culture. Please reach out to people in your circle, especially those whose resources have been impacted, who were already struggling before our crisis. . . If you’re doing good today, check in on someone who may not be. It, too, may save someone’s life.

The front porch is where some things remain the same.

Do you need hope today? . . If you listen only to the news, you won’t find hope. . . Today I found hope and honest truth from the April 2 entry in Streams in the Desert. It was written almost 100 years ago by a woman who knew hardship, sickness and adversity in a land far from security. . . I’m so thankful for God’s character, his Word, the Bible, and honest encouragement from Christians who have known and lived through hard times. . . We need honest hope and positive truth in our uncertain days. When the negative truth bombards your world, it’s hard to know what tangible hope is. . . I’m reminded each day that the hope I run to is a person, Jesus Christ. He is the peace that no one else provides. . . He is the creator of the sun that rises every morning and the sustainer of our days when other elements seem unstable. His peace is found in the Bible, the words living for today. . . He is on the other side of uncertainty. No matter what, He is there. He doesn’t change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 . . He’s available just as certain as the sunrise. I’m setting my face to the East. Will you join me?
