I had an amazing time at the annual women’s retreat with the Stroh Church of Christ women, talking about a whole and balanced life. . . On a side note, my dog peed on my speaking clothes, our furnace is out, and I leave for @mennoclinic in India tomorrow. . . ✈️I’m ready.

I spoke on raising boys and raising girls to a MOPS group in Michigan today. . . We talked about the importance of boys having permission to feel their emotions, but also manage their emotions. . . Self control and empathy are two skills to teach them because our culture does not model them. . . Abide in my love, Jesus says in John 15:9. . Abide means to wait expectantly. Jesus says he loves you and I as the Father loves him. . . Wait in this love. Wait expectantly. . . This is a face of resting and abiding. Of waiting expectantly in quiet trust. I don’t quite know what I’m waiting for, except I know on whom I wait. . . I’m learning the care of the Good Shepherd in John 10 is a place of rest and abiding. It’s a place of safety. . . Friend, Jesus loves you with the love the Father had for Him. It includes suffering, temptation, and betrayal. . . It also includes Expectantly waiting for the goodness of God in every situation. . . Abide with me in the safe pasture of Jesus’ love. Engulfed by his goodness, expectantly waiting, even in trials. . . This is lesson I’m learning in 2020. I can’t deny Jesus’ words in John 14 and 15. Abide. Ask. Rebuilding faith means unlearning man-made messages I’ve learned about God and faith. . Asking is humbling. Striving is self-sufficiency. Asking is humbling. Not asking is pride. Asking is a relationship where there is trust and no shame. . So I’m learning to ask. . I had the privilege to speak to a congregation today on boundaries, being safe people and places for kids, and the Circle of Grace curriculum for Dove’s Nest. . . If your church wants a great curriculum to teach healthy boundaries, consent, and abuse prevention, let me know. . . We have to be these things as the body of Christ.
